Kevin Hunter Mitchell

Associate Attorney

“I’m thrilled to be part of the Woods & Bates team and to serve the people of Logan County”.

Kevin Hunter Mitchell joined Woods & Bates, P.C. as an Associate Attorney on April 1, 2025. With a passion for service and a commitment to providing families with clarity and compassion, Hunter focuses his practice on estate planning, business associations, guardianships, and adoptions.

Hunter brings a grounded perspective shaped by his roots in New Berlin, Illinois, a small town west of Springfield, and his education at Blackburn College, a unique work college where every student contributes to the campus community. “Blackburn instilled in me a strong work ethic and a real appreciation for teamwork and accountability,” he says. He graduated in 2021 and earned his Juris Doctor from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

After law school, Hunter returned to his hometown to work at New Berlin High School, giving back to the place that helped shape his values. That year of service deepened his commitment to helping others, something he carries into his work with clients today. “I’m here to make sure clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to make the best decisions for themselves and their loved ones.”

At Woods & Bates, Hunter contributes to the firm’s tradition of responsive, client-centered legal services. He embraces technology and innovation to improve access and efficiency, particularly for clients in rural communities. He is known for his thoughtful communication style and his ability to explain complex legal matters in a way that is clear and comforting.

A proud Eagle Scout, Hunter lives by the Scout motto of “be prepared.” He brings that mindset to every interaction, helping clients move forward with confidence.

Outside the office, Hunter is a dedicated sports fan, cheering on the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Cubs, and enjoys spending time on the golf course. He played competitive golf throughout high school and college and continues to enjoy the game.

Hunter is proud to serve Logan County and surrounding communities and looks forward to building lasting relationships through his work at Woods & Bates.
